She blinded me with design-ence

I'm absolutely floored at why people continue to use Magento. It has to be the nice looks. For almost a year there are catalog pricing rule bugs. If you set a special price for some products, it will revert to the normal catalog price in 2 days. There was a bug in which a customer could wipe out your entire product database simply by clearing their wishlist. I've heard stories about tax rounding being incorrect... Magento actually does nothing required by a shopping cart correctly, yet people still flock to it.

Let this be a lesson to all open source projects. Spend $500-$1000 on a designer and nobody will pay attention to your bugs.

Hey Mark, interesting comments - in your opinion what would be a better alternative to Magento (I take it Agent Ohm is not quite ready yet)?

It's really a toss-up at this point. I've never really seen a bug free Magento installation, so it's not like if you just took Magento you'd be up and running with no problems.

The only think you have to ask yourself is, where do you want your bug reports to go, how long do you want to wait for fixes, and do you really want to upgrade when your whole site when your bug gets fixed.

Agent-Ohm works exactly like Magento 1.3.0 at the core still. Just that 3rd party modules probably wouldn't work. But - I can't really find any modules (besides my own) that seriously modify code, and that are not just CSS/JS tweaks.
